Working Safely with Power Tools

Engineers, installers, apprentices and trades staff who use portable power tools such as drills, grinders, saws, press tools and pipe threaders.

What you will learn

  • Recognise the injuries and long term health damage power tools can cause
  • Check a tool, its accessories and its power supply before use, and take faulty equipment out of use
  • Drill into walls, floors and ceilings without hitting hidden cables and pipes
  • Use cutting tools safely, with the right accessory and the guards in place
  • Control dust, noise and vibration, and recognise the early signs of damage
