Engineers, installers, apprentices and maintenance staff who work in toilets, drains, voids and under floors in homes, empty properties and communal areas.

What you will learn

  • Explain the real risk from a needlestick injury, and why acting quickly matters
  • Recognise where discarded needles and other sharps are likely to be found during building and plumbing work
  • Work in a way that avoids sharps injuries, especially in places you cannot see
  • Deal safely with a needle you find, including telling the right people
  • Give yourself the right first aid after an injury and get medical help straight away
