Manual Handling

Anyone whose job involves lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling: stock, deliveries, kegs, furniture, equipment, plants, patients' equipment or office supplies.

What you will learn

  • Explain what manual handling is and the injuries it causes
  • Recognise the four risk factors: task, individual, load and environment
  • Apply the safe lifting technique step by step
  • Know when to use handling aids or ask for help, and when not to lift at all
  • Report unsafe handling tasks and any injury or pain
